Tension And Release

All the best songs build up tension and find a way to release it in the chorus. Whether it’s through packing a lot of words in a section of the verse, or writing a melody that ascends in pitch, there are many effective ways to build it. In Pink’s Song “Just Give Me A Reason” ft  Nate Ruess, massive tension is gathered right when they’re both singing love… Love…. LOVE right before the hook.

Remember, a great song is a lot like an emotional rollercoaster audience wants to ride over and over again.
