Singing in public can be a bit daunting at times. You go through nerves. Self-doubt. FEAR!!!!
Don’t worry, there is always a solution.
You have to prepare yourself in four key areas
Physical – Make sure to get enough sleep and eat right. Those are two cliches for a reason. You give your best performances when you’re well rested and when you’re not hungry. There’s that perfect pocket of awesomeness that lets you know when you’re ready. These exercises will help you get ready.
Skills – Champions keep playing until they get it right. Practice. Practice. PRACTICE. So when the time is right, all you have to do is let yourself go and perform. I always feel like there’s a voice in my head mid performance that tells me Im doing pretty good.
Mental – What’s your setlist? or maybe you enjoy the winging it setlist. Which is perfectly fine. How are you gonna perform your songs? Who are you gonna give shout-outs to? Are you gonna take a breath here or here to give the maximum emotional impact? Develop a meditation and an imagery practice so you can really prepare yourself.
Balance – Do your best to get everything in order before you perform. And if not, know that you did everything you can.
Preparation isn’t just about your performance. It’s about taking care of all of your responsibilities so you can focus on doing what you need to do, whether it’s for a show or practice.
The more prepared you are in these areas, the more confident you’ll be.
